Repair Patches

If you've got holes or two in your gear, think about adding adhesive patches to your rep kit. These tough patches feature a high-performance glue that is applied to a tough polyurethane back which allows a tear under pressure to heal. Available in clear or colored options, these patches provide durability against punctures, moisture, sunlight, saltwater and temperature extremes.

If your kit does not include any of the items listed above it is possible to consider adding a waterproof Aquaseal wader sealant. This water-tight adhesive will stick to plastics, fabrics, metals, and more for Rep Kit a permanent fix. This is great for repairing drysuits, and is also employed in the field. To apply the patch, place it on a smooth, clean surface of the area that has been damaged with a minimum of 1/2 inch overlap. Release the paper and rub the adhesive side down using moderate finger pressure.

Surface preparation is essential for successful repairs. Sunblock, acetone or oils on shoes and boots could affect adhesion. For best results, make use of Seam Grip alone or with Cotol-240 Cure Accelerator to speed curing up to 2 hours.

Adhesive patches

These adhesive patches are perfect for those who don't want to wait until they get back on the trail. Apply the self-adhesive patch then roll it on.

Clean the area thoroughly and then apply the tube-scuffer, or sandpaper to roughen the surface, which helps glue stick. Spread a thin layer over the patch. Cover an area that is at least large as the patch. Wait for the glue to become tacky, then apply the patch with force and hold it in place.

The kit contains two clear, adhesive-backed Tenacious Tape fabric repair patches. It also comes with a 1/4 ounce Seam Grip urethane sealant and repair adhesive. It is ideal for reinforcing damaged sleeping bags, rainwear and other packs.
