In this book, Darrow creates an interesting back story for Avon and imitates the lively style of dialogue that Blake's 7 was known for fairly well but unless you are a fan of the show it's probably not for you. The story is centered around the relationship between Avon, Vila and their mutual respect and disdain for the other's ruthlessness and cowardice.

Avon's soft side comes out as he makes the difficult choices necessary to safeguard his team. The characters have a lot of depth, and each has a unique personality that makes them believable. This is a tale that will leave you wanting more. The writing is flawless, and the narrative has a real sense of the place. It's an amazing piece of writing by an author at her peak.

The Author
