WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item upgrade by 3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of armor or weapons. However, the item used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade item your gear. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

The cost of upgrades will be based on the current level of the item upgrader mod being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased from item upgraders NPCs for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool with a button, which will show an image of the item at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current level of the item upgrader kit. For instance weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.

Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Crests

Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters, rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests have one usage therefore it's essential to make use of them in a responsible manner. It is best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all of the slots are full of high-quality gear.
