A three-wheel buggy is great for rough terrain providing an easy ride for your infant. This design delivers a lower center of gravity at the perfect height, making it easier to push and lighter to pop the kerb (you can never overestimate the amount of times you'll have to do this as a new parent!)

This results in a lower centre of gravity and a perfect weight distribution. This makes it easier to push, especially over bumpy terrain and curbs. MFM reviewer Kath liked the way this type of seat dealt with challenges.

A top-quality ATP will have pneumatic tyres, a padded grip for better comfort, and an excellent suspension. It should be able to accept a carrycot or car seat, meaning you can use it right from the time of birth.

MFM's reviewers have discovered that the 3-wheeler frame won't fit through all the doors in their homes or small car booties - make sure you check the dimensions of the buggy once it's folded prior to purchasing if you're worried about space.

Find a 3-wheeler that has 2 (or 3!) seats. seats once your family grows - these are the best of both worlds and will help you save money in the future. Tyres

These tyres cushion bumps and uneven surfaces to make your child's ride more comfortable. These tyres can sometimes prove tricky to keep inflated and must be filled regularly. They are also more prone to punctures than foam tyres so it is essential that you have a repair kit with spare tubes and a pump on hand when you are traveling with your buggy.

PU tyres are typically used on pushchairs since they are a cheaper option than tyres filled with air, but they are equally robust. You can tell PU tyres by their matte appearance and soft feel. They also slide on flat and tidied surfaces.

It's usually possible to identify the difference between PU and air-filled tires by running your hands over each one, if it feels hard, then it's rubber and when it slides, it's a PU. You can also check if your buggy is fitted with PU tyres sliding them onto an even, smooth surface. They should roll smoothly and fit snugly into wheel hubs.

Foam tyres are able to withstand the rough terrain of high-performance buggies. The downside of this is that the foam can compress and make your buggy feel less stable, because it loses its springy nature. You'll also find that these kinds of tyres can often be noisy as they generate a lot of noise when you turn and navigate your way around the town.
