3. RoboVac X8 hybrid

While Anker's Eufy is well-known in the world of robot vacuums, this model is its first venture into the realm of mopping. It has improved intelligence, multiple map support, LIDAR scanning and twin-turbine technology that automatically adjusts to the surface you are cleaning. It's a mid-range robot cleaner that's attractive even if its claim of being a one-stop shop for floor cleaning doesn't come true.

The X8 Hybrid looks like a regular robotic vacuum cleaner from the top, with its circular shape with sweeping wheels, as well as an elevated space for sensors. This robot did well in our tests of hardwood floors and kibble. It picked up everything, from a single rice grain to several pet food pieces in just one pass. It had a bit of difficulties transitioning to rugs but in general this vacuum cleaner is ideal for large rooms with different flooring types and a variety of pets.

The A4s Pro is a bit expensive, but it's a great buy for people who want to be able to leave the house with no hands on so they can do other things or do chores. The A4s Pro has a convenient auto-cleaning mode that increases suction to get rid of difficult dirt or spills. It also comes with a battery powered ElectroWall to set boundaries for the robot.

This budget-friendly robot from a renowned new brand is the most affordable we've tested and provides an outstanding value for the money. Its basic navigation system uses a super-basic random pathing algorithm, but it doesn't have room mapping capabilities, which makes it less time efficient than the other models on this list. It's still able to navigate under furniture and into corners. And its mopping mode performed well in our tests by picking up hairs and other debris.

5. Shark iQ

Shark's iQ isn't quite as sturdy as the Roomba S9, but it does a better job overall in getting rid of pet hair on all surfaces. It is more effective of cleaning low-pile carpet and floors that are not covered. It also makes use of smart-pathing navigational software for greater maneuverability. It also lets you send it to a specific room, and its advanced suite of automation features include no-go zones and scheduling. It also allows you to pause and resume cleaning, making it perfect for homes that have pets.

Its self-cleaning brushroll helps prevent knots from pet hair and other debris and its self-emptying bagless dock station can store up to 30 days worth of dirt before it needs to be empty. It also has an assortment of side brushes that are angled to go deep into corners, and its multi-stage filtration system captures dust, dander and allergens for a cleaner air.

The robot vacuum feels sturdy and well-built. It works with a smartphone app which lets you alter its vacuum settings and schedule cleaning sessions in advance. The app allows you to see the remaining battery life of the iQ, and send push notifications if it encounters any problems during a cleaning session. You can control it with your voice via an Amazon Alexa device or Google Assistant device. If you don't own either of these devices you can mark out areas by using physical boundary markers.

The iQ is good in cleaning floors with no dirt, and does well on carpets with low pile and shaggy edges. However it's not able to provide the same level autonomy as our top selections. It is also expensive and its monthly costs can be quite costly.
