The robot's automatic emptying Clean Base can store up to 60 days of debris, and eliminates the necessity for manual maintenance. It also comes with a recharge-and-resume feature that will send the robot back to its home base to charge when its battery gets depleted. It can then pick up exactly where it began.

While the i5+ is a fantastic machine for homes of all sizes, it's important to note that it's not made for carpeted or stairwells. It has a small capacity dustbin, so it won't clean your entire house in the event of a lot of pet waste or debris. Take a look at the i7 and I9 models if your goal is a Roomba with more power to withstand more challenging environments. These robots are better equipped to tackle stairs and can be used for wet mopping. Once the i7+ has reached its maximum capacity, it returns to its Clean Base and empties its contents. Then it gets ready for the next clean. You can add cleaning fluid by pressing a button located on one side of the robot. A small water tank or dustbin is then clipped open.

The only issue is that the Clean Base takes up a considerable amount of space which makes it difficult to put the i7+ away in a closet when it's not being used. However this is a typical issue with robots cleaning and most manufacturers offer smaller charging stations that are smaller. These stations are usually capable of fitting under cabinets and make it easier to conceal your iRobot while not in use. iRobot has reached out to us following publication to clarify that the Combo i7+ is designed to be used only with the manufacturer-approved cleaning solution (sold separately). It is not recommended to fill it with water, which can harm internal components and cause a decrease in performance.

The robot vacuums and mop simultaneously with its dual stainless steel arms that grab dirt and debris while it moves.
