1. IRobot 1. i1

The iRobot i1 robot vacuum also mops. It can be controlled by the iRobot App, or via voice commands using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. It's a little cheaper than the higher-end Roomba models, like the i8+, j7+ or s9+ and has many of the same features, however it does not have the advanced navigation features that more expensive models provide.

It does a good job cleaning floors that are not clean, but not so much for carpeting. It's excellent on tile and laminate flooring and has a cleaning head that can fit into corners. It can be set to clean specific areas or rooms of your home, and it supports the creation of virtual boundary lines to prevent it from entering rooms you don't want it to.

The i1 is also compatible with a self-emptying dirt compartment that allows you to avoid manually emptying its trash every time it is running out of room. It's fairly easy to maintain, though you do have to empty out its brushes every week. The vSLAM navigation system makes use of cameras instead of laser sensors, which means it takes longer to map out rooms and can't detect furniture like the more expensive Roomba models.

You can also see a Roomba's history of cleaning jobs and check its status and battery level.

The i7+ is significantly more expensive than the newer 981, but it comes with better performance on bare floors as well as a bigger dustbin and the capability to automatically empty its dirt compartment into a larger built-in dirtbag in its charging dock. The iRobot is also more durable, has a longer maximum battery life and charges faster than the Shark. The i7+ also clears more debris from low-pile carpet and lets you create virtual barrier lines using its Effortless Cleaning: iRobot Roomba i5+ Robot Vacuum And Mop Home app. The i7+ isn't the best robot vacuum for pet owners or people with hair that is long, however. The sweeping brush could get tangled with hair, and you'll need turn it over and clean its moving parts on occasion.

iRobot S9+

The iRobot S9+ or Baby Rocky as my three-year old son calls it, does a fantastic job of cleaning floors that are bare. It removes a variety of types of debris and has the strongest suction we've seen in a consumer-grade robot. It's a luxurious feel and has a long battery life, allowing it to clean a large room without running out of power.

It uses iAdapt 3.0 Navigation using vSLAM, which helps it easily learn the layout of your home and creates personalized Smart Maps that allow it to efficiently navigate in neat rows. Imprint Link technology is used to automatically clean after vacuuming. It's the only iRobot robot with the D-shaped body of the robot. This lets it get closer to corners and edges as opposed to round robots like the Neato Botvac D7.

We found it to be more intuitive than the previous models and user-friendly. It's compatible with voice commands through Alexa or Google Assistant, and it offers a variety of settings that can be customized, including the option to adjust the power of its cleaning. The iRobot app also lets you make the rooms you would like it to clean, which is useful when you want the robot to concentrate on a particular area.

Our only complaint about the S9 is that it may occasionally run over things such as power cords and toy strings. It can also be noisy when vacuuming and occasionally gets stuck on larger obstructions such as couch legs. The robot has limited physical controls. Most functions are operated via the app however, there are a few buttons like a button to leave, which causes the robot to leave the base station, and an clean button that initiates a general cleaning cycle.

The L10s Ultra robot vacuum and mopper is the only model in our ranking to have docking stations that can be self-emptying and self-refilling. This means you can leave your robot alone for 60 days without having to empty the dust bag or refill the water tank.

5. Eufy 11S

The Eufy 11S is a streamlined robot vacuum that effectively collects small particles and fine dust from hard floors. It's great for daily cleanings, but it's not very effective in cleaning edges or corners. It's easy to use and has a variety of cleaning modes that are automated. However, it doesn't include an app, which means you can't create virtual barriers, monitor the life of your accessories or look over cleaning history. The 11S is an excellent choice for those who want an affordable robot that is simple and easy to use.

The 11S has a relatively tiny height of 7.2 cm that means it can fit under low furniture and overcomes doorsteps easily. It has sturdy and large wheels that enable it to effortlessly handle carpets and large pile rugs. The dirt compartment on this model is larger than other models. This means that it needs to be emptied much less often. The remote control lets you change a variety of settings including power modes and automatic programs.
